Meet The Children's Ministry Staff! |
Sherry Ju | sju@fbceg.org | ext. 115 Sherry has been married since May 1986 to her bff (text messaging abbreviation for “best friend forever”), Steve, who works as an E-mail Administrator for the State of California and is blessed with two great sons, Brandon and Adam. The Ju family loves First Baptist Church and has been attending since 2001. Sherry and her family also love being in God’s great outdoors-their vacations usually include camping, hiking, biking, snorkeling, skiing or any other outdoor sport you can imagine. What people don’t know about Sherry (and probably don’t care): Sherry’s desire is that each and every child who attends FBC would develop a deep yearning to know God more and to seek His guidance and will for their life, just as she does. |
 Jocelyn Castillo | jcastillo@fbceg.org | ext. 107Administrative Assistant For the past year, I have had the privilege of serving in FBC Children’s Ministries. My job as an administrative assistant is a combination of fun and challenging tasks. I am behind the scenes, working on creative details that help this team connect with our FBC children and their families. I love that I can be apart of God’s masterful plan – seeing families grow in Christ with conviction, courage, and faith. My family and I have attended FBC since 2001 and we’ve seen the many positive things that God has blessed upon this church and the community. He has blessed me with my husband Roy of 12 years and two young boys, Aaron and Jadon. Raising children isn’t easy, so I’m glad that I can be surrounded by God’s great support team - people who have the same parallel beliefs as I do. |
 Denise Huft | dhuft@fbceg.org2nd-4th Grade Coordinator Hi, my name is Denise Huft. I have been married to my high school sweetheart, Mark, for 26 years. God has blessed us with three uniquely wonderful children. Ryan is 22. He attends Sac State and has just been the fourth generation of our family to get married at our church! We are so happy to have a new daughter, Helyna! Alissa is 19. She also attends college and Nathan is 16 and a sophomore at Jim Elliot High School. I have attended FBC all my life. I accepted the Lord at a young age at a Good News Club that my mom helped with. I have learned by example that you not only attend a church but you need to serve in it as well. My aunt and my mom always worked with children in children’s church and had me helping at a young age. I loved it! I have been involved with children ever since. Children are a special gift and blessing from the Lord. They are fun, creative, loving, and exciting. There is never a dull moment in Children’s Ministry! We have a challenging task as we battle this world for the souls of our children. We want to partner with you and help lead these little ones to the Lord. It is an honor and a privilege to be working with you and your children. |
 Kathy Imboden | kimboden@fbceg.orgEarly Childhood Coordinator My name is Kathy Imboden and I have attended FBC for 20 years. I love to teach kids about God’s love for them and how each child is very special to Him. And it is important to me that children understand God's gift to them, His son, Jesus. I am blessed with a wonderful family that loves the Lord. My husband John and I have been married for 28 years and serve in ministry together. We have three great sons Paul, Joshua, and Zachariah and an awesome daughter-in-law Anne who is married to Zach. As a family, we like sports, football and baseball are our favorites. We love to BBQ, eat, and hang out together. We also enjoy going to Disneyland and serving God in Cameroon West Africa. My dream vacation (besides the beaches in Spain) would be to take a road trip and visit all the major league baseball stadiums, my first stop would be Wrigley field in Chicago. |
 Fran Logan | flogan@fbceg.org | ext. 116Kidsport Coordinator Fran Logan has worked as Kidsport Coordinator since August 2004. She has a heart for the Lord and a passion for caring for kids and teaching them about Jesus while their parents participate in ministry. The thing she loves most about working in ministry is seeing the smiles on kids' faces and hearing them talk about Jesus. Fran also enjoys working with our FBC Kids Choir as a producer for the past 11 years. She loves to hear the children sing praises to God. Other interests include spending time with her five children and eight grandchildren, traveling, scrapbooking, watching movies and visiting Disneyland. |
| Jennifer Sandlin AWANA Commander Jerry and Jennifer Sandlin are the Awana Commanders here at First Baptist Church. The Sandlins have been involved in Awana for a combined 35 years. They appreciate the Awana combination of exciting Game Time to bring kids in, the small group Handbook Time to build relationships between kids and their leaders, and the large group Council Time to cement God’s truths. Most importantly, they love to see the children memorizing scripture and applying it to their lives using the Awana handbooks. With diverse backgrounds, the Sandlins bring their own unique gifts to children’s ministry. Having grown up through divorce and blended families, Jerry has a special compassion for those kids growing up through difficult situations. On the other hand, Jennifer’s childhood in a Christian family gives her insight and helps her see the distinct needs of kids who grow up in the church. Jerry and Jennifer met in 1986 at the singles ministry of Crossroads Bible Church in San Jose. They have been married for 19 years and have four children, Mike (16), Shelby (15), Tyler (12), and Ashley (11). In addition to his ministry as Awana commander, Jerry is a financial consultant for USBank and a painting contractor. Jennifer is blessed to be a stay-at-home mom, homeschooling their three younger children. |
| Dawn Storm Nursery Coordinator Hi, my name is Dawn Storm. I have been married to my husband Dick since July 1994. We are very blessed to have a daughter, Amberly. I am the Nursery Coordinator in Children’s Ministry. What I love about my ministry is that I get to meet new families all the time. This is the forefront to raising children in church. I am a full-time teacher in Elk Grove. My passion is children. And I feel very blessed to be able to be around children on a weekly basis. We love FBC and God has grown our family in many ways at FBC. If you are new to our church and have a baby, please get in touch with me so I can get you and your family connected in our baby ministry. I would love to help in anyway I can. Our family enjoys snow skiing, swimming, sewing, bike riding, traveling, camping, and of course girl shopping!! |
Sharon Sorrentino Hi my name Sharon Sorrentino. I am the Registration Coordinator for Children's ministry. I also work in the Kidsport childcare here at FBC. I have been married to my wonderful husband, Jim, for almost 19 years. We have five fabulous daughters! I have had the privilege of being a stay at home Mom for the past 17 & 1/2 years. This has been an awesome time of training, growing and faith building! I'm a hands-on learner and the Lord gave me a bunch of sweet girls with fabulously unique personalities to teach me about His grace, mercy, unconditional love and so much more! I learned about God's saving grace when I was 28 years old. I know firsthand the snares that befall kids who don't know the Lord. I have a passion to walk alongside kids and help them find the Truth! I've also been blessed to be co-choreographer with our children's choir. I have a small group of teenage girls that meet at my house for a weekly bible study! I have always had a great love for kids! The Lord is expanding that love to teenagers and young adults! There is such a need for young folk to be loved and feel accepted! I feel honored that the Lord loves these kids through me! |
