About Worship & Arts at FBC

"Developing fully devoted followers of Christ through Worship and the Arts."

Philosophy: Connecting people to Christ in Spirit and in Truth
”God is spirit, and his worshippers must worship in the Spirit and in truth” (John 4:24)

We strive to make this connection through 3 different avenues:
Fellowship - Connecting with the People of God (People to People)

By working to strengthen the community with and between Christ-followers, the connection to God is realized. (1 Corinthians 12:27; Ephesians 4:12-13). The New Testament calls it koinonia, which is characterized by a sense of partnership, participation, mutual contribution and sharing. In all of our endeavors we seek to build fellowship throughout our ministry's groups and the church.

Proclamation - Connecting with the Word of God (God to People)
In proclamation people are connected with the Bible. The Bible is the written revelation of God, Himself to humanity. Through the story of Christ and the truths disclosed in the Bible, people come to know and understand God better (1 Corinthians 1:18; Hebrews 4:12). Kerygma is one word that the New Testament uses to refer to this kind of proclamation. It originates with God and shows, teaches, calls people to remembrance, faith and conversion or calls them to discipleship. It declares the Gospel revealed. To make this kind of proclamation through the arts is our priority.

Worship - Connecting with the Spirit of God (People to God)
Worship continues to be a term with a multiplicity of definitions. But, almost every definition embraces some form of response or action directed to God. Two New Testament words that encapsulate the definition of worship are proskeneu and leitourgia(John 4:24; Romans 12:1), and they are defined by such actions as bowing, praying and praise. Adoration and seeking or waiting upon God also play a significant role as people direct their responses to God. In addition, the observance of the ordinances in obedience to God’s instruction, as well, characterizes this sense of worship. When the arts serve to connect the heart-felt response of individuals or groups to the Spirit of their creator, worship takes place. This is one goal of the Worship and Arts Ministry.

Three Distinct Venues

The message is pertinent, the music divine, and the fellowship incomparable.

The music is Contemporary, with praise bands, complete with a rocking rhythm section and brass ensemble, leading intense and meaningful worship. Energetically led by Jeff Carnie and his team of accomplished musicians, we are committed to creating an environment which encourages freedom in worship, thus adding to the authenticity of our lives.. Music is taken from Israel Houghton, Hillsongs Australia, Travis Cottrell, Tommy Walker, the Brooklyn Tabernacle and Chris Tomlin, just to name a few. You will find if difficult to resist tapping your feet to the beat and raising your hands to the Lord. The technical arts team assists in the worship experience through visual arts and powerpoint presentations.

FBC Passion | Sunday | 11:15am | Auditorium
Where passion meets purpose - think contemporary rock…drums, electric guitars and high energy, yet, mixed with times of acoustic reflection. This late morning service, led by Pastor Joel Neufeld and his team of devoted musicians, is designed to evoke a time of guitar-driven praise in a relaxed and informal environment. You’ll hear music from Matt Redman, Chris Tomlin, David Crowder, and Hillsongs United. All of this is interspersed with the use of other artistic forms and a meaningful message by Senior Pastor Jason Whalen. The hope is that  remembering, learning about and responding to God will become passionate and authentic for those whose worship language has been born out  of today’s contemporary culture.
