Worship & Arts Ministries
"Developing fully devoted followers of christ through Worship and the Arts."
Philosophy: Connecting people to Christ in Spirit and in Truth
”God is spirit, and his worshippers must worship in the Spirit and in truth” (John 4:24)
We strive to make this connection through 3 different avenues:
Fellowship - Connecting with the People of God (People to People)
By working to strengthen the community with and between Christ-followers, the connection to God is realized. (1 Corinthians 12:27; Ephesians 4:12-13). The New Testament calls it koinonia, which is characterized by a sense of partnership, participation, mutual contribution and sharing. In all of our endeavors we seek to build fellowship throughout our ministry's groups and the church.
Proclamation - Connecting with the Word of God (God to People)
In proclamation people are connected with the Bible. The Bible is the written revelation of God, Himself to humanity. Through the story of Christ and the truths disclosed in the Bible, people come to know and understand God better (1 Corinthians 1:18; Hebrews 4:12). Kerygma is one word that the New Testament uses to refer to this kind of proclamation. It originates with God and shows, teaches, calls people to remembrance, faith and conversion or calls them to discipleship. It declares the Gospel revealed. To make this kind of proclamation through the arts is our priority.
Worship - Connecting with the Spirit of God (People to God)
Worship continues to be a term with a multiplicity of definitions. But, almost every definition embraces some form of response or action directed to God. Two New Testament words that encapsulate the definition of worship are proskeneu and leitourgia(John 4:24; Romans 12:1), and they are defined by such actions as bowing, praying and praise. Adoration and seeking or waiting upon God also play a significant role as people direct their responses to God. In addition, the observance of the ordinances in obedience to God’s instruction, as well, characterizes this sense of worship. When the arts serve to connect the heart-felt response of individuals or groups to the Spirit of their creator, worship takes place. This is one goal of the Worship and Arts Ministry.
