Born and raised in Sacramento, I grew up in a family of five enjoying sports, friends, and music throughout my younger years. Now I’m married to an amazing woman, Krista, and enjoy every minute of raising my little girl, Sophia (born in 2009) and my son, Elias (born in 2011). I enjoy playing sports (especially basketball), allowing my hair to do crazy things, and simply spending time with people. Krista and I relish in exploring new places, indulging in good food, playing games, and laughing at the ridiculously funny things that our kids do.
I earned my B.A. in Religious Studies at Westmont College of Santa Barbara and a Master of Divinity degree at Denver Seminary. I am amped and grateful to be a part of the ministry team at First Baptist. I believe in a mighty and gracious God who created us for himself and it’s such a pleasure to help students discover the life that is offered to every one of us through his Son Jesus Christ!

My name is Johanna Speizer. My husband Joel and myself are newlyweds (married this past July). I’ve worked here at FBC in the youth ministry department since 2006 and I absolutely love it. I have lived in 6 states but I tell people I am from Missouri because that is where I went to high school and college. I have a B.A. in Music and French. I love to explore the outdoors especially through hiking. I am really thankful to live in such a beautiful part of the country.
I also enjoy adventurous things like backpacking and rock climbing and my husband and I are pretty good swing dancers. I love to worship the Lord through music, namely singing. I enjoy reading good books, trying out new recipes, and having people over to our new house for board-game nights. I love different cultures, languages and ethnic food. Joel and I are preparing to be missionaries to unreached peoples somewhere in the Middle East or Central Asia. I love girl-time with my Jr. High and High School ladies. It is such a privilege and a blessing to be involved in our students’ lives! I really do have the best job on the planet; I get to love on students and teach them about my best friend, Jesus Christ.

I am nineteen years old and I am currently the junior high ministry coordinator here at FBC. I also coordinate the worship teams for the junior high and high school groups. I am incredibly goofy, fun-loving, and outgoing. I love wearing “crazy” socks so that I can dress classy, casual, and crazy at the same time. The three C’s. I listen to all kinds of music, from traditional worship to christian rap. I love playing sports, my favorites being basketball and soccer, and I am incredibly competitive. My favorite thing about the junior high group growing up was the ICLA mission trip and that is where I really committed to following Christ with all of my life. I constantly make mistakes, but I am making it through by the grace of God. My desire is to serve Christ with all that I have to offer and see the youth at FBC do the same. I am currently enrolled in classes through Distance Learning at Moody Bible Institute pursuing a degree in Ministry Leadership. If you have any questions about the junior high group or the worship teams, let me know!

Growing up in Galt, I attended Galt High School where I was involved in theater, tennis and Christian Club. I also spent a great deal of time participating in events at First Baptist, which I loved! I left Northern California to attend Biola University, where I earned a B.A. in Communication Studies with a minor in Biblical Studies in December of 2011. After graduation, God led me back to the Elk Grove community where I now feel so privileged to serve on the ministry team as the High School Ministry Coordinator. Though some of my hobbies and interests have changed since my own years in high school, the youth at FBC have continued to be close to my heart. I have a passion for God and His people. I am so happy and blessed to be able to minister to and alongside the students. God has done so many amazing things and I look forward to seeing His plan revealed in each of our lives!
As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. Ephesians 4:1-3

It is an honor and blessing to be able to serve with such a Godly, compassionate and gifted staff here at First Baptist Church. I am a graduate of CSU Sacramento in Communication Studies and have lived in Elk Grove since 1993. I am the proud mother of two teens who love the Lord. Who could ask for more?! All I know is that God has great plans for your life!
