COLLEGE GROUP (18-22)

"I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing." - John 15:5

The Vine is a place to belong, a place that is consistent, provides community, and equips you with a biblical worldview. We love God, we love God's Word and there is growth in loving others!

The Vine Meetings - All college students are invited to join us on Thursday evenings at 7pm in the Junior High Room (E-108). Afterwards we hang out at In & Out. Don't forget to BRING A FRIEND! Contact Bob at bspeizer@fbceg.org or ext. 126 if you need additional information.

SUMMER CALENDAR

The summer is packed with activities and opportunities to grow in your faith and in your interaction with others.

  • Sunday AM Bible Study
Every Sunday, 9:30am in Room E-201 in the Education building – college and young adult singles meet to delve into God’s Word – often doing an inductive, verse by verse study of a book of the Bible. We also experience sweet worship and a few laughs.

  • Thursday Evening at the Vine
We meet in Room E-108 (Junior High Room) at 7pm every Thursday of the year. We have great Worship, Fellowship, Bible Study and small discussion groups. After every Thursday night many in the group head over to In-N-Out for more time together.

  • Guy’s Bible Study
Wednesday evenings from 7-9pm. We meet at Josh Rea’s home (9646 Mindoka Way, Elk Grove, 95624). The group is presently going through the minor prophets.

  • Girl’s Bible Study
Every other Sunday evening. They meet at 6pm for dinner followed by a devotional and prayer time. They meet on the following Sundays, June 9th, 23rd, July 14th, 28th, August 11th, 25th at Stephanie Orton’s grandma’s home (8920 Dontree Way, Elk Grove, 95624).

  • Union Gospel Mission - Downtown Sacramento
Serve with us the 3rd Sunday of every month. You can sign up to serve on Sunday or Thursday meetings.

  • Ultimate Frisbee
Every Sunday at 1pm at Amundson Park in Elk Grove (8730 Heritage Hill Dr, Elk Grove, 95624).

  • SUMMER RETREAT: Zephyr Point in Lake Tahoe, June 14-16.
Cost $85. Always one of the highlights of the year is out 2 day retreat to Tahoe. Such a beautiful place to connect with God and with others. We bring up a great speaker (this year it’s Pastor Tony Campos); have unbelievable food (we bring up our own cooks), and bathe in God’s beautiful creation.

Meet Our College/Young Adult Pastor

My name is Robert (Bob) Speizer, Pastor to College and Young Adults. I direct all Young Adult Ministry activities at FBC (including new high school graduates and college-age youth). I have been on staff here since 1991.

I’ve been happily married to Nancy for 33 years. We have two grown up children. Aubree, age 27, is a Special Education teacher in Modesto, and Joel, age 29, is working as a loan officer at Premier West Bank in Elk Grove. Both of our kids are preparing to become missionaries along with their spouses. We have three cats: Sweetface, Max and Walter. I could pick 20 favorite movies, but under duress here goes: 12 Angry Men, The Great Escape, and You Can’t Take it With You; best worst movie of all time is: The Terrors of Tiny Town. It’s definitely not politically correct.

I love the people of FBC. If I could give a member a piece of advice, I would say, “Please get involved!” Find your area of service and use your spiritual gifts to bless the Body!
