Other Short-term Mission News
Breanna Prasad - Breanna has been active in youth, young adult and worship ministries. In fact, you may have seen her in some of our video announcements. This summer she has an opportunity to join her mother and her grandfather on a mission trip to Fiji. I know, you probably are thinking like I was, "Come on, a mission trip to Fiji; that sounds more like a vacation trip." Here is the unique twist to this trip. Breanna's grandfather helped start and continues to disciple churches amongst the Indian population of Fiji. Many people from India were transported to Fiji during colonial days to work in the sugar cane fields and build roads. Today people of Indian descent make up over 1/3 of the population and majority of them are Hindus and Muslims. There are villages with limited electricity, water, and unpaved roads where people live with very limited income. Their primary source of food is from the land and sea. The need is very great among the poor. Indian Christians suffer persecution from their unsaved family members to this day and yet God is doing an amazing work among them. Fiji has gone through several coupes and effects are still felt among the ethnic Indians to this day. Breanna will be helping her grandfather by leading worship at two different churches and going out into the communities and villages to share her faith and visiting families to encourage them. Dates of Trip: July 28-August 8. Cost: $1,135.
If you would like to learn more or be a part of Breanna's support team, contact her at (916) 690-4420 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Julia Ditoiu - Julia is a Jewish Studies major at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. This summer she has the opportunity to go to Israel with Chosen People Ministries. The trip is from May 21-July 17, 2015. The primary emphasis will be on evangelism; but her team will also be involved in various tasks and service projects such as serving the poor and needy. The total cost for this trip is $3,900. Would you consider supporting Julia financially? Deadline for donations is May 10, 2015. You can donate online at www.chosenpeople.com/donate. In the Special Designation box, write "Julia Ditoiu.". For cash or check donations, see Julia's support letter or contact Julia at email@example.com. Donations are tax deductible.
Micaiah and Salem Palmer - Micahiah and Salem are students at California State Sacramento. They are part of a campus ministry called Chi Alpha whose goal is to "reconcile students to Christ: transforming the university, the market place and the world." These sisters have the opportunity to participate on a mission trip to Bangalore, India this summer (June 1-16, 2015). Some of the team projects include outreach at school assemblies, VBS, preaching in churches, and street ministry to children. The cost per person is $2,000. Their total combined cost is $4,000. Would you consider supporting the Palmer sisters financially? Make checks payable to AGNCN (Assemblies of God Northern California Nevada) and mail to 7992 Arroyo Vista Dr, Sacramento, CA 95823-4955. Donations are tax deductible. Lopez Family (Rob, Cindy, Justin, Daniel) - Rob and Cindy Lopez will be leading a youth team to Peru this summer - June 1 through July 26.2015 with Teen Missions International. Their 2 boys, Justin and Daniel, will be part of the team. They start off with 2 weeks of boot camp in Florida. At boot camp the teens prepare their hearts to serve through intensive spiritual training. They will also receive practical training related to their service projects. In Peru, their main project will be construction of a Sunday school classroom. The students will also participate in evangelistic outreaches using puppetry, music and personal testimonies. In Peru, they will continue to train spiritually through Bible studies, Bible memorization and special classes. A key goal of Teen Missions International is to help youth focus their hearts on God and learn spiritual disciplines, learn how to walk humbly with God, and learn how to deny self and love authentically. Pray that team will be united in love and purpose. Pray that each member of the team will encounter God in a life changing way. Pray for mutual encouragement between the national Christians and the team. Pray that they will be used by God to be bearers of light when they encounter darkness. Finally, pray that when they return home that they will continue to have a passion to grow spiritually and to be used by God in their circles of influence.
When we are aware of members of FBC going out on mission trips other than those sponsored by us, we will post information here so you can pray and support them too.
