Waiting on God: Pastor Search Committee Update
“Be Still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10)
In our fast-paced, quick response, instant gratification culture, slowing down is a challenge and being still seems like an impossibility. But did you know that this is exactly what your elders at First Baptist Church have been doing. In fact they have met several times over the past few months to seek God in prayer, listen for His guidance and follow His vision for FBC. These Godly men have followed God’s will in choosing the team members for the Pastor
This amazing group of servants is working diligently with the elders as they go forth to search for the next person God has chosen to be our next Senior Pastor. The team has met several times already and plans to meet twice a month on Mondays. They are busy organizing and taking initials steps required for a search of this magnitude.
As the clock seems to tick ever so slowly, be reminded that “those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength.” Please be prayerful daily for this team, our church and the man that God has for us. Time of transition can be challenging, but during those times, we can lean into the One who knows our future. It is natural to want them to be over quickly. But, as we are discovering in our trek through The Story, God’s story takes time. And so we wait as He faithfully authors His story for First Baptist Church. While we wait, He writes. And, He puts the characters in place as He sees fit. We can be assured that this story will be the best, because our God is good –the author and perfector of our faith.
